MiCTA, in sponsorship with SREB and MHEC are pleased to announce the latest ATAlliance program development initiative.

It has been nearly three years since MiCTA and the ATAlliance initiated efforts to obtain eLearning Management Solution and repository contracts for schools, colleges and state education agencies. The contracts from this first effort have been invaluable to the education community across the country. Not only were we able to obtain quality products and service contracts at reasonable prices, it also provided many related benefits including the opportunity to:

• bring together K-12 and higher education to focus on issues and topics that they have in common;
• tap high quality human resources from across the country with expertise in both management and technical aspects of eLMS;
• establish relationships with eLMS companies in ways that no compact, school, college or state education agency could have created individually; and
• advance educational community eLMS product and service needs with the vendor community.

Working together to share information and expertise dramatically reduced the time and costs to individual oraganizations and institutions that would otherwise have to create their own RFPs and negotiate contracts.

In the world of online learning, three years is a long time. Many advances have resulted from vendor program development. The purpose of this effort will be to establish continuation and/or new contracts with vendors of products and services supporting the development, operation and management of online education. Specifically, we will address:

• eLMS
• Learning Object Repository
• Help Desk
• Hosting products and services
• Applicable third party tools (such as management tools, collaboration tools, assessment tools, etc.)
• Standardized/Consistent pricing and meaningful discounts

The meaningful discounts we anticipate are possible through cooperative efforts and aggregate volume. Whether you have 1000 seats or 1,000,000; we encourage you to join with us in this effort to help further the use of on-line learning technology, its affordability, and its interoperability with enterprise applications.
