The Video Integration Services RFP was released on March
3, 2004 on behalf of the MiCTA and ATAlliance membership.
The purpose of this RFP is to generate standardized offers
for integrated video solutions, stand-alone components
/ features, service, support, and training. In addition,
this RFP will meet USF bid requirements for K-12 Members.
Members are invited to volunteer their knowledge, expertise
and time to participate as part of the Evaluation Committee.
Openings are currently available for video technicians,
product reviewers, and purchasing/business/financial representatives
whose tasks will include the evaluation of vendor responses,
cost analysis, and award recommendations. The initial
evaluation retreat is scheduled for May 10 - 14. Also,
there are some related, important tasks volunteers can
perform entirely at their home location. Organizations
/ institutions with a strong interest in utilizing the
resulting VIS agreements are encouraged to participate
in the vendor evaluation process. If you are not the person
responsible for purchasing video integration services
and components, please forward this e-mail to the correct
person.
To learn more about the RFP process and committee requirements,

RFP page , scroll down to Evaluation Committee , and

ACUTA–MiCTA Relationship
Benefits ACUTA Members
In 1999, ACUTA and MiCTA agreed upon a relationship that
is designed to be mutually beneficial to members of both
nonprofit associations. That relationship continues today,
and with changes in personnel at member institutions,
we thought it might be a good idea to review some of the
highlights of our agreement. ACUTA members may take advantage
of the benefits of membership in MiCTA through a waiver
of MiCTA membership dues.
Like ACUTA, MiCTA is a nonprofit association consisting
of public and private nonprofit educational institutions,
governmental and public sector organizations. MiCTA’s
roots are in the higher education community of Michigan,
but its activities and programs have expanded to encompass
educational institutions throughout the U.S. In addition
to its overall efforts to benefit members, MiCTA’s
primary mission is to develop sources of high quality
communications technology services to members at reduced
costs. The organization accomplishes this through a
comprehensive RFP process, through which it seeks favorable
pricing on a broad range of telecommunications and information
technology products and services. This process has satisfied
state government and state agency bid requirements.
For more information on the RFP
process and programs, contact MiCTA’s administrative
service, MiCTA Service Corporation at 888/870-8677.
MiCTA and ACUTA often participate in each other’s
educational programs and publications by providing speakers
and contributing articles. Our missions are complementary,
and we hope to maintain the relationship for the mutual
benefit of our members. If you are not familiar with
MiCTA’s programs, we encourage you to check their
website at http://www.micta.org. In order to take advantage
of a free membership in MiCTA and access their services,
you may call the MiCTA offices at 888/870-8677, and
identify yourself as an ACUTA member. |

section of the MiCTA website. |

| According to Information Week magazine, up
to 40% of all corporate security departments are currently
reporting through the Information Technology department,
and this trend is expected to accelerate. This is a major
advancement for an industry that has traditionally drawn
a rigidly defined line between physical and IT security.
To demonstrate how far the security industry has come
in opening the doors of communication, Forrester Research2
conducted a poll that shows that approximately 46% of
IT security staff and physical security staff are occasionally
working together, while 22% are frequently working together.
This marriage of IT and physical security produces a number
of pros. Click
