MiCTA Service Corporation Board of Directors Appoint John M. Rathje, President and CEO
At their Spring 2004 meeting at the Soaring Eagle Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, MSC’s Board of Directors appointed John M. Rathje President and CEO. Mr. Rathje has served MiCTA in various capacities since 1997, most recently as President of Operations since March 2001. He is a native of Michigan and received a bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Central Michigan University (CMU). He was also a scholar athlete as a football player for CMU.

Mr. Rathje serves as chair of the board of elders for the Mt. Pleasant Faith Lutheran Church, a director for the Mt. Pleasant Country Club, a member of the CMU Mt. Pleasant Advisory Board, a member of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions Advisory Board, and a member of the CMU Hall of Fame Committee. He lives in Mt. Pleasant with his wife, Lori, daughter Jenilee (15) and son Josh (10).

Rathje says, “We have a great team here and I'm genuinely honored to be in a position to build on the successes already established. I see great opportunity for MiCTA Service Corporation to help MiCTA/AT Alliance members realize deeper value through membership in MiCTA.  To that end, we have realigned our staff to focus on member services, program development, marketing, and operations.  Technologies continue to grow in importance and adoption within the membership of MiCTA.  We expect to meet the challenge by developing new programs and strategies that will help MiCTA members save time and money.”

As President and CEO, Mr. Rathje will also serve as Chairman of the Board. He succeeds Kenneth E. Johnson who helped to found MiCTA and has been a driving force behind MiCTA and MSC since their inception.

MiCTA Service Corporation Announces Appointment of Dan Odykirk as Director of Marketing
John M. Rathje, President and CEO is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Odykirk as Director of Marketing. Dan comes to MSC with over 15 years experience in the private small business sector, including working with national companies like Burger King and others on a regional level. Dan has worked with national brands on local level implementation, and as a business owner, he is also experienced with operational and administrative functions.

At MSC, Dan’s duties will include increasing member awareness of available programs and assisting program providers with promotion of their cost saving products and services. Dan’s efforts will help MiCTA members realize greater value through increased participation and focused vendor communication.

Dan Odykirk states, “I am excited for the opportunity to help non-profit organizations fulfill their needs, and to work with industry leading providers that partner with MiCTA.

John Rathje states, “Dan comes to MSC with the experience, enthusiasm, and drive that we need, to make significant progress with our outreach campaign. I look forward to working with him to help members understand the significance of working together through our MiCTA/ATAlliance programs.”

MiCTA and the ATAlliance Announce Preparations for a New Bid for Telecommunications and Internet Services
MiCTA and the ATAlliance have begun the initial effort to refresh a bid, and promote increased member participation in MiCTA telecommunications and Internet services contracts. The objective of this process is to generate standardized, high value, low cost offerings to active member organizations across all fifty states. The bid is tentatively scheduled for release in early 2005, with the objective of having contracts in place by the summer of 2005.

We encourage members to consider joining this effort to help develop a program that will offer value to members through aggressive pricing not available to individual organizations, and avoidance of the expense of administering their own competitive procurement process. Details about progress on this important project will be posted to the MiCTA website, www.micta.org.
