VoIP service is now available to MiCTA members
There’s no doubt about it; communication over the internet is here, and leading the march is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Technology. Most experts feel that VoIP will eventually become the preferred method of making phone calls. This is because of the flexibility and cost savings opportunities it provides. In that regard MiCTA would like to announce that three of our telecom vendors have just received approved awards to offer business class VoIP technology to all MiCTA members. The three MiCTA vendors that received awards are Qwest, Sprint and Verizon Business. Please click this link to log into the vendor pages to view information about the VoIP services and to get contact information for the vendors. If you have any additional questions about MiCTA, VoIP Service, or your member password give us a call at 1-888-870-8677 or email Amiee Garcia at AGarcia@mictaservice.com.

Colleges go cellular to contact students
As colleges seek new ways to communicate with students, many are offering customized cell phone services that feature additional tools for instruction and security--such as optional GPS tracking systems and one-touch dialing systems in cases of emergency.
July 10, 2006—For Ron Chicken and other freshmen at Montclair State University, the new freedoms that presumably came with college age included a mandatory cell phone with which the school could pinpoint their whereabouts on or off campus.
"I think some didn't like the idea that they had to have it, and some thought it was a new way to track them," said Chicken, 19, now preparing to enter his sophomore year at the New Jersey college. Please click this link to view the remainder of this article at the ESchoolnews.com website.
