| In October 2001, MiCTA and the
countrys four regional Educational Compacts formed
the American TelEdCommunications Alliance. The alliance
is a nation wide collaborative designed to: |
|
1. |
|
Build on MiCTAs work
to expand current program offerings of the compacts
to include technology offerings. |
|
2. |
|
Collaborate on program
development to meet the needs of members nationally
as well as regionally within each compact. |
3. |
|
Unify the procurement process
when appropriate to leverage even deeper discounts. |
|
|
|
|
The other founding members of
the ATAlliance are: the Midwestern Higher Education Compact
(MHEC); the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB); and the
Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE).
The presidents of these four organizations will serve
as the ATAlliance Board, and the MiCTA Service Corporation
will serve as program administrator for the ATAlliance.
MiCTA has joined with the three compacts because we strongly
believe that the collective voice of the ATAlliance will
have a significant and positive impact on the common goals
and even some of the unique goals of each organization.
For MiCTA specifically, we feel the ATAlliance will affect
wider use of our programs, further educational opportunities
for our members, and enhance management of membership
needs and member demographics outside MiCTAs home
base.
Non-profit and state organizations can join the ATAlliance and participate
in contracts and programs free of charge because of our affiliation with these compacts and receive a free MiCTA membership.
